چکیده

Cognitive radio is an emerging technology that aims for efficient spectrum usage. Cognitive radios have been proposed as a solution to the spectrum underutilization problem and have been proven to increase spectrum efficiency . However, in this we are analyzing the performance of the cognitive radio based on cooperative spectrum sharing. Here we propose a twophase spectrum sharing protocol which supports relaying functionality, it take the advantage of situation when primary system is fails to achieve its target rate due to weak channel situations the secondary system allocates some of its transmitters for helping the primary system to achieve its target rate by acting as decode –and-forward relay .As a reward the secondary system gains spectrum access by using remaining transmitters to transmit its own signal. Analytic and simulation results confirm the efficiency of the proposed spectrum sharing protocol. We show that the both primary and secondary are able to achieve better outage performance with increasing the secondary transmitters. And also it is shown that primary user’s interference probability is always equal to 0.75 when CSI of interference links is imperfect. Keywords— Cooperative spectrum sharing, selection of relay, imperfect CSI, outage probability.

Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Protocols for Cognitive Radio Mesh Networks

In this paper, we consider the cooperative spectrum sensing problem in a cognitive radio (CR) mesh network, where secondary users (SUs) are self-organized into a IEEE 802.16 mesh network sharing the spectrum band allocated to a primary users’ (PUs) network. We propose two new cooperative spectrum sensing strategies, called amplify-and-relay (AR) and detect-andrelay (DR), aiming at improving the...

Improving spectrum access using a beam-forming relay scheme for cognitive radio transmissions

Cognitive radio (CR) systems allow unlicensed secondary users to transmit on the licensed frequency bands without degrading the transmissions of licensed primary users. Combining CR with other emerging techniques such as multi-antenna relaying may bring many benefits for the secondary transmissions. In this study, the authors propose and investigate a new relay-based cooperation scheme for a CR...

Cooperative Spectrum Sensing for Amplify-and-Forward Cognitive Networks

We develop a framework for spectrum sensing in cooperative amplify-and-forward cognitive radio networks. We consider a stochastic model where relays are assigned in cognitive radio networks to transmit the primary user’s signal to a cognitive Secondary Base Station (SBS). We develop the Bayesian optimal decision rule under various scenarios of Channel State Information (CSI) varying from perfec...

Protocol design and performance analysis for cognitive cooperative networks with multiple antennas

In this article, we deal with a novel access protocol design for cognitive cooperative networks with multiple antennas. According to the principles of cognitive radio, the secondary user (SU) can exploit the primary user (PU) burstiness to access the licensed spectrum in the proposed access protocol. To get more access opportunities to the licensed spectrum, the SU simultaneously relays the PU’...

Cooperative and Non-Cooperative Games for Spectrum Sharing in Cognitive Radio Networks: A Comparative Study

Spectrum sharing in cognitive radio networks is essential to ensure effective communication between secondary users. Game theory is suitable to be applied to the spectrum sharing strategies since it considers strategic interactions between users. There are two types of games based on the ability to communicate between users: cooperative game and non-cooperative game. In this paper, the two spec...
